“NAT – Nature, Arts, Technologies” International call for theatre artists

The Italian Centre of the International Theatre Institute UNESCO (Italy), in collaboration with Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute (Cyprus), Uniunea Teatrală din România – UNITER (Romania), Human Development and Culture International School – HDACIS (Georgia) and Augmented and Virtual Reality Lab of the Department of Engineering for Innovation of University of Salento (Italy), is pleased to announce the International Call for Theatre Artists for the participation in Eco-Arts Labs that will take place in Cyprus, Romania, Georgia and Italy.

This cycle of workshops is part of the European project “NAT – Nature, Arts, Technologies”, supported by the Creative Europe program of the European Union.

The Call is addressed to emerging professional artists from all the Creative Europe participant countries [1].

Each Eco-Arts Lab, lasting 3 days, will be directed by the Artistic Director of ITI Italy, Fabio Tolledi. It consists of an intensive full-immersion workshop on techniques and knowledge about theatrical site-specific performances in naturalistic sites. Participants will be able to approach methodologies of theatre work realized in special significant naturalistic sites all around the world, particularly in the Mediterranean countries.

The lab is practical and has as a central aspect the physical theatrical training as the basis for the performer’s preparation. From breath to body, from gesture to voice, from voice to choir, along a very punctual work on stage presence: a very intense full immersion workshop with multiple voices, with an international character. This experience will provide the artists with important materials that can contribute to evolve their professional performative skills and to enhance new international collaborations. At the heart of the artistic work there will be some selected texts of the French writer Marguerite Duras, in particular “The malady of death”, “The pain”, “The lover”.

The selected performers will have the opportunity to participate in one of these special workshops which is not only aimed at training and exchanging know-how but also to invite some of the selected performers to participate in Eco-arts Residencies in Cyprus, Romania and Italy.
